My favorite white is the 2007 Galets Dores, a blend of 42% Roussanne, 35% white Grenache, and the rest Vermentino (also called Rolle in southern France) and Clairette. This is a crisp, aromatic effort revealing plenty of floral undertones intermixed with notions of pineapples and peaches. With a fruity palate, a dry, fresh personality, and good acidity, this crowd-pleaser can be enjoyed with an assortment of cuisines. One of the most impressive estates in the Costieres de Nimes (a treasure-trove of value-priced wines), Mourgues du Gres’ reds and whites are all worth checking out by consumers looking to maximizing their buying power.Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel.
