Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur has a rich, what feels like a botrytis-affected bouquet with lanolin and hazelnut notes infusing the citrus fruit. As it opens, it beings attaining more detail and exudes more wet stone/mineral scents. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant saline entry. Good tension here, just a dab of spice, though less than Raveneau's Valmur. All it is missing is some persistence on the finish as it just cuts away a little too swiftly, otherwise this is a very well made if not a spectacular Grand Cru that should offer 10 years of drinking pleasure. Tasted May 2016.
