This wine has a ruby/amber color, and a seductive, velvety, black cherry fruitiness interlaced with smells of vanillin oakiness, leather, and decaying leaves. The tannin is obvious and harsh. The Volnay has very harmonious flavors, a smoky, ripe berry fruit bouquet, and long finish.
