The red 2015 A Portela was produced with Mencía grapes matured in French oak barrels for eight months and 20 more months in stainless steel, plus one more year in bottle. So, they offer this red almost five years after the harvest, which means the wine is developed and polished. It's quite ripe and time has given it more tertiary aromas, meaty and smoky with a hint of soy sauce, and the palate is round and juicy and combines ripe flavors with some acid berries that give it a bit of a spark. It goes more in the direction of a Northern Rh?ne than a Burgundy. 20,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2018.

Tart, tangy acidity leads the way in this light, firm red, energizing the cherry and cranberry flavors that mingle with herbal and licorice notes. Lively, but needs food for balance. Drink now. 5,000 cases made, 1,424 cases imported.??–TM??Region: Spain / Valdeorras Select to Add

Vibrant ruby color. Fresh red/blue fruits, incense and pot-pourri on the perfumed nose, with suggestions of exotic spices, smoky minerals and licorice building as the wine opens up. Offers energetic raspberry, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors that gain sweetness with air and show sharp delineation and mineral cut. A seamless, spice-laced finish shows excellent tenacity, a subtle trace of tannins, lingering spicecake and candied red fruit notes.
