LAST TASTED 6/94The 1977 vintage is considered inferior to 1985, 1989, and 1990. Nevertheless, this wine offers plenty of attraction. The complex, herb, singed leather, smoky, tobacco, and red fruit-scented bouquet is a turn-on. The color reveals some amber at the edge, but is otherwise healthy. Soft and fruity, with moderate acidity and a savory, spicy character, this 1977 Chianti should be drunk over the next 7-10 years.
