The red wines begin with 2008 La Lluma La Pruna, a blend of 90% Mourvedre and 10% Carinena aged for 18 months in 25% new French oak. Malolactic fermentation was completed in barrel and the wine spent some time on lees. Inviting notes of mineral, spice box, violets, and blueberry compose the nose of this well balanced but slightly austere wine. Another 2-3 years of cellaring may allow it to fill out more completely.
Alamany I Corrio is a true garage winery operated by a husband and wife team of that name. My visit to the tiny winery in January, 2011 left me impressed both by their passion and by the quality of the wines, all of which are produced from organically grown grapes and which receive native ferments.
