The 2009 Plan I Fa Sol is a 90% barrel-fermented blend of 85% Xarel-lo and 15% Malvasia with the wine remaining in barrel on lees with batonnage for 10 months. Mineral, almonds, white fruits, and a touch of oak inform the nose and lead to a creamy palate with excellent density and concentration. This first class effort has a lengthy, pure finish.
Alamany I Corrio is a true garage winery operated by a husband and wife team of that name. My visit to the tiny winery in January, 2011 left me impressed both by their passion and by the quality of the wines, all of which are produced from organically grown grapes and which receive native ferments.
