Anderson's Conn Valley Pinot Noir

I am still not impressed with their Pinot Noirs. The 2005 I tasted was pleasant, with a dark ruby color, some sweet pomegranate, plum, and dusty, earthy notes, a hint of herbs, but some drying tannin in the finish. The 1995 Pinot Noir looks to be superb, with a dark ruby/purple color, copious quantities of sweet, Richebourg-like black-cherries intertwined with flowery aromas, and high quality toasty new oak. Sweet, round, and full-bodied, this is a seductive, layered, succulently textured Pinot Noir for drinking during its first 5-6 years of life.The Anderson family has considerable interest in Pinot Noir, which is evidenced by their numerous trips to Burgundy. The 1994 Pinot Noir was in a awkward stage when I tasted it, revealing strong animal, tomato, leafy aromas, and a muddled personality. There is plenty of flavor, but the wine was disjointed and funky. Another evaluation following 6-12 months of additional bottle age should prove more accurate.
