The 2007 Tempest is a much younger offering. Composed of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, its dense purple color is followed by a big, sweet kiss of acacia flowers, blackberries, and dark chocolate as well as some background oak. Rich, full-bodied, impressively endowed, and long, it should drink well for 6-8 years. I have been impressed with Audelssa’s wines since their first vintage debuted less than a decade ago. All the fruit comes primarily from the steep, western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, and the winery is equally talented whether it’s turning out Bordeaux varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, or unleashing some complex, delicious Rhone Rangers.Tel.
