The red wines begin with the 2005 Clochemerle, a blend of 56% Shiraz, 36% Grenache, and 8% Mourvedre. It was matured 50% in tank and 50% in older French oak. Dark ruby-colored, the nose is reticent but offers up scents of mineral, spice box, truffle, black cherry, and blueberry. Medium-bodied, the wine is elegantly styled with racy, moderately intense spicy fruit, decent depth, but a slightly narrow finish. There is enough tannin to support a few years of cellaring but this is a wine that can be enjoyed now. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; www.burgefamily.com.au
