The 2007 Lagrein Tor di Lupo is a beautifully polished, sleek Lagrein layered with dark varietal fruit, licorice, tar and subtle hints of earthiness. Though not super-complex, the Tor di Lupo possesses a supple, seamless texture that should allow it to continue to drink nicely for at least a handful of years. It is by far the most interesting red I tasted from Andrian. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015.
These are the first wines I have tasted from Cantina Andrian. The entry-level wines are clean, well-made and offer good varietal character, but little in the way of true excitement. Some of the higher end wines are decidedly more interesting.
