The 2020 Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Andrius has a soft and slightly waxy texture with preserved lemon, candied apricot and dried orange zest. This wine takes a sophisticated look at Sauvignon Blanc, offering lasting richness with hints of toasted almond and sweet pie crust. This vintage saw 9,000 bottles produced.

The Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2019 Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Andrius is true to the grape with lots of zesty green apple, passion fruit, crushed white stone and a focused Dolomite character that comes on strong here in this 14% alcohol edition. The wine is snappy, linear and tight with tons of energy. This is a very successful expression of Italian Sauvignon Blanc. Some 7,000 bottles were released.

Fragrant, bright and balanced, the Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2018 Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Andrius is a beautiful wine and a pristine expression of this fragrant grape. High-altitude Sauvignon Blanc from Northern Italy presents enormous varietal purity with white flower, honey, tropical fruit and garden-fresh tomato leaf. The freshness and the sharpness of those aromas is just terrific, especially in a balanced cool vintage such as 2018. This is an easy white (with a 7,000-bottle production) to recommend. Fermentation is straightforward in stainless steel, and temperature control helps to lock in those bright aromas. The wine's pleasing texture is shaped by six months of lees aging in steel, with a minor percentage (about 30% of the total) that rests in large oak casks.

This is a consistently excellent expression of Sauvignon Blanc with an all-Italian heart. The 2017 Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Andrius shows the less spicy and pungent side of the grape compared to an expression from, say, New Zealand. The semi-aromatic grape in Italy tends to offer softer tones of peach, passion fruit and creamy citrus instead. You get all of that here, along with the slightly dusty and mineral tones that are characteristic of wines made in the Italian Dolomites. Some 6,000 bottles were made.

The 2016 Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Andrius is a spectacular wine that takes that characteristic intensity of the grape and pushes the boundaries even further. The bouquet is layered and rich with tropical and passion fruits, all followed by tangy citrus and lemon mousse. As the wine warms in the glass, it shows round notes of sweet honey, saffron and toasted almond. Some 6,000 bottles of Andrius were made in this vintage. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and it ages on the fine lees for five months.
