This is a terrific entry-level white that offers plenty of brightness and energy to pair with some Austrian schnitzel. The Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2020 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Finado stands out in a crowd of white wines, thanks to its especially zesty and lively personality. There is pomelo fruit, crunchy pear, almond blossom and light citrus on the close. To the palate, this wine is tart and nicely acidic with pretty mineral nuances as well. Some 45,000 bottles were produced. You get great value here.

The 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Finado opens to a luminous, light straw color that reflects the ambient light. This vintage shows zesty and very balanced results with pear, Golden Delicious apple, crushed limestone and a touch of spicy saffron. These aromas are characteristic of dolomitic calcareous soils. Winemaking is simple in stainless steel, with a brief sur lie aging of six months. The wine sports a crisp, lean-bodied mouthfeel, but there is enough acidity and mineral-driven linearity to drive the wine long over the palate. Production is 45,000 bottles strong.

The 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Finado is an honest and transparent wine that delivers a classic portrait of this beautifully versatile white grape. The wine opens to aromas of white peach, pear and Golden Delicious apple, all delivered in steady and equal doses. That harmonious evenness is indeed the most admirable quality of this vintage.

A terrific value buy, the 2017 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Finado covers the palate with smooth and silky intensity. The wine imparts peach flavors with mild pear and sweet apple. Those fruity notes are contained by elegant mineral tones that recall crushed stone or oystershell. This wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged briefly on the lees for six months. Some 35,000 bottles were made. Drink it within the next 3-5 years.

The 2015 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Finado is a fine wine offered at a very reasonable price. True to the varietal, this Pinot Bianco offers a rather neural nose with subtle tones of stone fruit, pear and light mineral shadings. The impact in terms of mouthfeel is more lasting thanks to the natural creaminess and textural fabric of the wine. Yet, Finado is executed in a simple style without too many extra bells and whistles. What you get here is an authentic portrait of a grape.
