The 2005 TRINCADEIRA spent 8 months in a blend of new and used American and French oak barrels. This is a very modern and clean Trincadeira, with ripe fruit, rather sweet oak and no vegetal qualities. The structure is modest, the tannins very ripe. The oak-tinged fruit tastes good, throwing off some vanilla, licorice and black cherry nuances, although the finish is a bit short. It's a pleasing wine that seems a little simple at times, although some character does emerge as the wine airs out. Drink now- 2013.
