There were approximately 500 cases produced. The 2004 Tinto (Vertice) shows a little bitterness on opening, but that resolves into lovely plum notes that made the fruit delectable. The wine is very fragrant at the moment, with some drying tannins appearing on the finish. There is sweet, tasty fruit in the mid-palate, and a lush feel to this wine. The tannins make this lush wine seem rather intense at the moment, but I suspect its balance will be quite nice when its pieces begin to knit together. This was a barrel sample at the time submitted, informally bottled. I confirmed that the price provided for this bottling was identical to the 2003 Reserva reviewed here. There were moments when this was a lot harder to read than the 2003, but I think this will be a more interesting wine. Drink 2008-2014. This winery was founded in 1988 by Jack Davies of Schramsberg, the noted Napa sparkling wine producer. Although they focus on sparkling wine, they began to make dry, still wine in 1999.Importer: V.O.S. Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 967-6948
