The 2010 Dosterras is a powerful, well-oaked, dark wine produced from five separate plots of Garnacha and Garnacha Peluda totaling one hectare of 85- to 105-year-old vines that fermented in 1,500-liter French oak vats and aged for one year in new 500-liter French oak barrels. The nose mixes aromas of ripe black fruits, violets, vegetal coal, smoke and toasted sesame seeds, while the powerful palate shows good balance between alcohol, acidity and fruit, in a quite powerful way. I’d give it some time to polish the tannins and better integrate the wood. It should drink well for the next five or six years. Drink 2015-2021.
Dosterras is a small family operation created in 2003 by Josep Grau currently producing 25,000 bottles from eight hectares of vineyards in two different estates. A new name to follow.
