These 2004 Barolos are the finest wines I have tasted from Ciabot Berton. The 2004 Barolo is made from vineyards in Roggeri, Bricco San Biagio and Rive, all of which are in Santa Maria, one of the less well-known parts of La Morra for fine Nebbiolo. This is a lean, powerful Barolo, but in this vintage there is also gorgeous, fragrant fruit that can stand up to the tannins. The wine reveals lovely balance and length, with cooling notes of mint that provide a sense of lift on the finish. This is a very attractive, mid-weight Barolo from Ciabot Berton. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016.
