A rounded, buttery style, with a medium-weight core of fig and pear fruit that glides through the laid-back finish. Offers friendly flavors, but is a touch shy on drive. The 2006 Chardonnay d’Honneur has a fresh, lifted vanilla and beeswax-scented bouquet with impressive definition. The palate is poised and tense on the entry underpinned by racy acidity and impressive focus with citrus lemon, dried apricot, honeycomb and hazelnut towards the finish that needs more persistence. But otherwise, this is an impressive Chardonnay. Drink now-2016. The barrel fermented 2004 Chardonnay d’Honneur has a very attractive bouquet with dried apricot, walnut and dried flowers whilst the palate has a very leesy entry, good acidity with great weight in the mouth. Much more Napa in style than Burgundy: long with touches of dried honey on the finish, this is an assured mature Chardonnay. Drink now-2014.
