The 60-40 Grenache-Syrah 2016 Vinsobres is easy to drink without being simple or facile. It offers distinct aromas of pepper, plum and raspberry, a full-bodied palate underscored by lush, supple tannins and ripe stone fruit and savory spice on the lingering finish. It should drink well for at least another 4-5 years.

A fabulous Vinsobres (keep an eye on this appellation!), the 2015 Vinsobres (60% Grenache and 40% Syrah) offers a complex array of black raspberries, crushed violets and potpourri in its medium to full-bodied, incredibly elegant, seamless style. I love its purity and it should easily be an outstanding wine.

The 2014 Vinsobres was young and unevolved, with plenty of darker fruits, licorice and graphite aromas and flavors. From a mix of pebble and limestone soils, and 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah aged all in stainless steel, it’s medium-bodied, has bright acidity and excellent purity of fruit. I suspect it will drink nicely on release.

Lastly, the entry level 2013 Vinsobres is made from 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah that was aged all in stainless steel. Medium-bodied and lightly textured, with an underlying elegance that comes out with time in the glass, it offers plenty of sweet cherry and blackberry fruit, licorice and spice aromas and flavors. It’s another well-made wine from this estate and should drink nicely through 2019.

Offers a smoldering feel from the start, with a smoky edge to the steeped boysenberry and raspberry ganache flavors. Notes of charcoal and pain d'épices hang in the background, while a graphite spine pulls everything together in the end.
