A terrific wine from this under-the-radar appellation (yet top wines from this estate shouldn’t surprise anyone), the 2014 Ventoux Domaine Rouge checks in as a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10 %Mourvèdre that was aged in a combination of tanks, foudres and barrels. Possessing gorgeous notes of liquid blackberry, cracked pepper, crushed rock and wild herbs, this beauty is medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless, with an upfront, ready to go style that’s ideal for drinking in its youth. It’s a no-brainer at the price.

The 1995 Rouge, a 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Cinsault blend, is a medium to full-bodied, chocolatey, herbs de Provence-scented wine with attractive, smoky, rich, black-cherry, herb-tinged, medium to full-bodied flavors, and a soft, silky texture. This is a mouthfilling, gutsy wine from southern France that traverses the palate with no hard edges.
