Scents of cracked pepper, leather and dark fruit appear on the nose of the 2018 Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret Tradition. A bit rustic and tough, it's medium to full-bodied without being particularly warm or generous, framed by firm tannins that turn dusty on the finish. It needs a year or two in the cellar, or some rare beef or lamb right now.

The 2017 Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret Tradition is full-bodied, creamy and lush in the mouth, yet it remains lively, energetic and long on the finish. It's dark-fruited and spicy, with hints of mocha, clove and allspice that linger on the finish. The assemblage is 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 10% Carignan.

The 2016 Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret Tradition is much more flattering young than the 2015, offering hints of stone fruit and licorice to go along with black cherry flavors. It's medium to full-bodied and supple, with a long, velvety finish. It should drink well on release and for another 5 years or more.

Even after 18 months in concrete, the 2015 Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret Tradition is tightly wound. A 60-40 blend of Grenache and Syrah, this medium to full-bodied wine offers crisp blackberry flavors and firm tannins. Give it a year or two after release to settle down, and drink it over the next 5 years or more.

Coming from higher elevation vineyards located above the village of Seguret, the 2013 Seguret Tradition is a solid step up over the Cotes du Rhone and offers good intensity in its red and black fruits, garrigue, pepper, saddle leather and classic southern Rhone spice. Made from Grenache, Syrah and splash of Carignan, raised all in tank, buy this tiny little gem by the case and enjoy it over the coming 3-4 years.
