Both the 1994 and 1995 Cuvee St.-Michel Prestige are dominated by toasty new oak, in addition to riper, richer fruit, and more body and glycerin than the 1995 Cuvee Tradition. Both are equivalent in quality, with the 1994 revealing more evolved aromatics, with a coffee, peppery, vanilla, and sweet black-cherry-scented nose. The wine is medium-bodied, with fine flesh and purity, and a spicy finish. The 1995 is obviously younger, but it may ultimately turn out to be a point or two better, since the color is more saturated, and the fruit is more intense and exhibits greater maturity. Both are excellent values that should drink well for 5-6 years. This is one of the finest estates in Provence, and its offerings are all fine values.A Peter Vezan Selection, various American importers, including: North Berkeley Wine, Berkeley, CA; tel.
