An all-Grenache cuvée, the full-bodied 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Catarina comes across as a bit raisiny yet also firmly tannic.

I was unimpressed by the Chateauneufs I tasted from this domaine. The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Catarina was dominated by hard tannins, leathery and tough.

The same blend and élevage as the 2013, the outstanding 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Catarina is a fruity, medium-bodied, elegant and concentrated effort revealing copious blackberry, black raspberry, toasted spice, leather and hints of gravel/wet rock. Already approachable, it will evolve nicely going forward on its balance.
