The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves is deep and concentrated, mingling notes of plums, raspberries, sweet soil tones, orange and musk in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, with a velvety attack that segues into a layered core of fruit, it concludes with a long, mouthwatering finish.

This domaine has adequate raw materials to make sound, even delicious ripe, fruity, red burgundy. Yet, the producer is enamored by new oak. His excessive use of new oak has resulted in a wine that tastes coarse, too oaky, and has a texture in the mouth not unlike sawdust. While the wine has plenty of ripeness and density, it is simply overwhelmed by its aging in oak casks.
