The 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba is a simple and stripped-down expression with bright primary fruit. Wild cherry, raspberry and plum cake are delivered with easy abandon. This is a lean to mid-weight red wine to pair with a plate of homemade carbonara with smoky guanciale, fresh egg yolk and grated Pecorino Romano cheese.

The Giacomo Fenocchio 2017 Dolcetto d'Alba is a darkly saturated and succulent wine with deep ruby tonality that borders on black and purple. The bouquet is redolent of lots of very ripe dark fruit with bitter almond at the back. This hot vintage is well suited to this heat-loving grape variety. There are moments of brief tightness and bitterness on the close.
