From Contra Costa’s Evangelho Vineyard, the 2005 Mourvedre Ancient Vines reveals more red and black fruits along with surprising elegance, sweet tannin (for Mourvedre), and a sandy/loamy soil note. Medium-bodied and pleasant, it only lacks serious concentration. It should drink well for 3-5 years. Unfortunately, Jade Mountain, one of the original as well as finest Rhone Ranger estates, is no longer making wines as good as they were in the past. However, they are still producing competent efforts, as evidenced by these two 2005s.Tel. (877) 254-4250; Fax (888) 231-5028
