The 1994 Les Jumeaux (a Cabernet Sauvignon/Mourvedre/Syrah blend) remains one of my favorite wines from Jade Mountain. It offers an intriguing black-cherry, cassis, herb, pepper, spicy component, medium to full body, some tannin, good grip, a savory mouthfeel, and a well-delineated, spicy finish. This wine will continue to improve for another 12-18 months and will keep for 7-8+ years. This Rhone Ranger producer continues to turn out tasty, supple, well-made wines with enough Provencal character to satisfy most enthusiasts of this type of wine.Tel. (707) 965-3084

530 Cases ProducedThis wine is made from 50% Mourvedre, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 17% Syrah. Not only is it a sensational value, it is a terrific wine, displaying an opaque purple color, and a big, rich nose of cassis, licorice, herbs, and spices. Full-bodied, supple, and chewy, with gobs of luscious fruit, the tannin is dominated by the purity and quality of the fruit. It should drink well for at least a decade.The current vintages were released in July, 1994. They are immensely impressive wines that combine the rare virtues of superb quality and modest price.

This is an impressive Rhone Valley-inspired wine. It exhibits wonderfully ripe fruit, fine richness, and a great deal of personality. Jade Mountain's 1990 Les Jumeaux (the twins), an unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon/Mourvedre blend, tastes akin to a California rendition of a top-notch Bandol. It offers an excellent saturated deep ruby/purple color, a spicy, peppery, cassis, earth, and herb-scented nose, layer upon layer of velvety-textured, jammy black fruit flavors, an unctuous texture, and a rich, long, satisfying finish. It will last for at least 7-8 years.
