The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is a pretty wine that shows the delicate, understated style of the year. It shows lovely balance and a perfumed personality that has plenty of promise. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2026. (Not yet released)Keever owns six acres of vines in Yountville. Jim Barbour looks after the vineyards while Celia Welch makes the wines. The estate’s 2009 and 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon were even more impressive than they were last year, while the 2011 is a strong effort in a challenging vintage. The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is an attractive wine to drink over the next few years. Layers of dark purple fruit flow across the palate in this gracious, silky wine. In 2009 the vineyard suffered some frost damage and the summer saw periods of warmth, both of which contribute to the wine’s fruit-forward personality. Warm spicy notes wrap around the generous finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. These are two beautiful wines from Keever and winemaker Celia Welch.Tel. (707) 944-0910

There are 500 cases of the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (again 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate vineyards in Yountville). Slightly denser, more structured, tannic and backward than the 2007, it is a full-bodied effort with notes of black currants, heady glycerin levels, and more toasty oak in the background (even though the percentage of new French oak used is essentially the same in each cuvee). The 2008 requires patience as 2-3 years of cellaring will be beneficial. It should drink well over the following 15 or more years. The high quality of the 2007 and 2008 vintages for Bordeaux varietals is clearly evidenced by these two offerings. Both wines demonstrate the personality of their particular vintage.Tel.
