Cherries lead the way on the nose of the 2019 Cabernet Franc Caitlin's Select, joined by just a hint of leafiness and some attractive milk chocolate shadings. Full-bodied, creamy and lush, this wine offers a lot of up front, with hedonistic appeal and a lingering, nuanced finish at a reasonable price.

The 2010 Cabernet Franc Caitlin’s Select is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. Somewhat of a paradox, this wine’s aromatics were sound and correct, although slightly reticent, as if the wine were closed down. But, in the mouth, there was an explosion of blue and red fruits, flowers and spice with lots of glycerin, flesh and body. I kept coaxing the wine to try and get more aromatic fireworks, but I just couldn’t do it. There is some licorice and blue fruits, but little else. However, in the mouth, the wine is brilliant, stunningly concentrated, velvety textured and a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on. I’m sure more bouquet will develop since there is so much in this wine. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028?

The 2008 Cabernet Franc Caitlin’s Select is another juicy, forward red. It shows plenty of depth and richness in its fruit, but not much varietal character. Ultimately this comes across as rather pedestrian. In 2008 the blend is 80% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, 6% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Tel. A blend of 91% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2007 Cabernet Franc Caitlin’s Select reveals a dark ruby/purple color along with sweet blueberry, floral-infused aromatics, ripe tannin, medium body, a beautiful intensity and layered fruit without any heaviness or rusticity. Almost too ripe and fruity, with jammy, pie-filling blackberry and cherry flavors. Lots of oak, too, giving the wine a caramelized sweetness. A bit heavy-handed, but tasty. Drink now. ——S.H.(6/1/2011)—— 86
