Made from certified-organic fruit, the 2013 Piceno Superiore Morellone is a 70/30 blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese, two beautifully well-matched grape varieties. The Montepulciano adds dark fruit and structure. The Sangiovese shows up mostly in the freshness of the aromas and with that bright spot of acidity that you taste on the finale. The fruit is framed by notes of spice and tobacco that come thanks to 24 months in barrique. Some 25,000 bottles were made.
