The 1995 Alexander Valley Chardonnay possesses copious quantities of pear, lemony, citrusy notes, ripe fruit, and low acidity that emphasizes the wine's fruit and soft texture. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. My visit to Murphy-Goode in October revealed a bevy of delicious wines that attests to the talent of winemaker Chris Benz. In addition to some new sporty, brightly colored labels, I was encouraged by how well the red wines tasted, as this winery's strong suit has always been their Fume Blanc, and more recently Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc.
