Packaged in a lightweight, environmentally friendly glass bottle, the Mustilli 2020 Sannio Aglianico is jammy and cooked. The hot and dry vintage has taken its toll, and the results are baked and sticky. The wine shows an inky rich appearance with sweet plummy fruit. Some 6,000 bottles were released.

The 2017 Sannio Aglianico is a mid-weight red that opens to a dark color and little transparency. This youthful expression put its primary intensity out there, pure and clear, with red cherry and dried raspberry. There are earthy notes of spice, black olive and grilled herb that give the wine a bit more volume at the back. Thanks to that freshness, this is a good pasta wine. Some 50,000 bottles were made.

Mustilli's 2012 Sannio Aglianico exhibits a bright personality with a foxy or youthful quality of fruit. It opens to dark concentration and a rather full body that softens slowly in the mouth both in terms of persistency and mid-palate. The fruit shows an attractive level of freshness with overtones of spice, cola, tar and dark granite. I could see pairing this red with sweet meat dishes like steak in cream and green peppercorn sauce.
