The 2002 Vin de Soleil white (60% Roussanne from the Stolpman Vineyard and 40% Viognier from the Bien Nacido Vineyard) was aged in neutral wood with no malolactic. It reveals a sunny Mediterranean-like personality reminiscent of Beaucastel’s white Cotes du Rhone called Coudoulet. The Vin de Soleil offers lemony acidity along with copious aromas and flavors of orange blossoms, passion fruit, and citrus oils. A new entry in Adam Tolmach's portfolio is the Vin du Soleil, a blend of 80% Roussanne, 15% Viognier, and 5% Chardonnay. The 2000 white reveals waxy, mango and orange marmalade notes in its medium to full-bodied, ripe, concentrated personality. It had its malolactic blocked, which is good as it has just enough acidity to balance out its weighty, rich mouthfeel. Made from extremely low yields, this Rhone Ranger blend will prove exciting.
