The 2008 RESERVA “MONTARIA” is a blend of Syrah, Trincadeira and Aragonez. Thin and light, but pleasant enough and with interesting and earthy flavors, it is a decent choice for a house pour in its modest price range. Consume it young. Drink now-2012. Note that the producer on these wines was previously listed as Goanvi. The importer advises that the name is in the process of being changed to Parras Vinhos, which did appear on some of the labels in the past, together with the Goanvi name. Note, however, that Goanvi now no longer appears on the Sulco label, while Parras Vinhos does not appear on the Montaria label that I saw, thus creating some short term confusion. The labeling may catch up at some point, so I am listing the wines here per the advice given to me by the producer’s representative. In any event: little is apparent on either label without looking hard except the brand names like Castel do Sulco or Montaria, so if you’re looking for them, look for that.Importer for Castelo do Sulco and Montaria: Grape Moments, a Division of Sintra Imports, New Bedford, MA; tel.
