The 2004 SINGULARIS Tinto is a blend of Trincadeira and Aragones. This is a rather elegant presentation, lighter styled, but with a certain lushness that is attractive and makes it seem rich at first. There are bright red berry notes, and the wine seems considerably more lively and vibrant with air. The tannins are light, but sufficient to provide support and structure, and give the wine a little intensity. The wine will be early maturing, although it should hold gracefully for a few years. It did thin significantly in a couple of hours, and it became a bit sharper with extended aeration, but in its price category, it performs well, and I liked it a lot early on. For most of its useful life, it will have some charm. Drink now-2010.You may see EBORAE VITIS E VINUS on some of the labels for this wine, as on the Dolium. That was a prior company, as I understand it. All of the wines should have Paulo Laureano Vinus as producer eventually, although the proprietary names like “Dolium” are what you will see in big letters on the front no matter what.Importer: Aidil Wines & Liquors, a division of Olde World Imports, Inc., Rahway, NJ; tel.
