The 2014 Villa Montosoli is a blend of 90% Sangiovese with smaller parts Canaiolo and Colorino, aged in oak for 24 months. Only 1,300 bottles were made. Fruit for this wine comes from a single vineyard (planted to the varieties represented in the blend) located on the top of the famed Montosoli hill, known to produce some of the best fruit in Montalcino. This wine opens to a dark garnet color and vibrant aromas of dried cherry and red currant. There is a point of bitter sourness here that reminds you of the indigenous grapes that make up this Tuscan blend. This wine has the acidity to cut through meat and cheese-based dishes.
