The 2005 GRANDE RESERVA SAVEDRA is an old vines field blend (60+ years), with Touriga Nacional (15%) and Touriga Franca (10%) blended in. “Savedra” references a parcel in the vineyard. Graceful, suave and aromatic, this wine is a bit marked by oak, but is simply delicious and bursting with flavor, beautifully balanced and a pleasure to drink. It is not just a flabby, fruity wannabe—there is very good structure here, too, which becomes more apparent with air. It is a little drying on the finish and will likely benefit from a bit more cellaring. There were 3,200 bottles made. Drink now-2018.
