Made with organically farmed fruit, the 2015 Aglianico del Vulture Siir offers a less formal interpretation of what is one of Italy's most austere and age-worthy wines. This expression instead offers accessibility and a food-friendly approach. The structure is there, but the wine also has the natural acidity, alcohol and tannic power to cut through meat gristle or crisp pork belly.

An herbaceous red, with abundant dried oregano and marjoram on the nose, this is medium-bodied and creamy on the palate, offering flavors of black olive, blackberry, licorice twist and orange zest. Well-knit, with tannins firming the lingering notes of graphite and ground spice on the finish. The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Siir is a dark and tight red wine that shows black fruit, spice and earthy, mineral tones There is a touch of bitterness on the finish but the general texture and density of the wine smooths over those tart flavors. It shows primary fruit aromas that for Aglianico in Basilicata come through as the blackness plum and darkest cherry.

A vibrant red, with an overall sense of finesse to the medium-bodied frame. Supple tannins are layered with ripe black cherry, aromatic leather, spice box and cedar notes, followed by a dusty finish.
