Medium ruby purple, the 2021 Syrah Thompson Vineyard opens with streaks of black pepper, mint chocolate and violet with a core of fresh blackcurrants. The palate is medium-bodied and light on its feet with delicate, crunchy fruits, a pleasantly chalky frame and loads of refreshing acidity.

The 2020 Syrah Thompson Vineyard has a medium ruby-purple color and lovely tones of dried violet, forest floor, blueberries and red berries. The full-bodied palate is soft, fresh and approachable, with loads of alluring floral character on the long finish.

The 2018 Syrah Thompson Vineyard, a finished barrel sample, has a deep ruby-purple color and gregarious aromas of blueberry coulis, mint chocolate, sagebrush, violets, herbs and a blackcurrant bud hint with red fruit sparks and a mineral streak. The palate is full-bodied and lushly fruited with ripe, grainy tannins and great freshness on the long, layered finish.

The 2016 Syrah Thompson Vineyard reveals a creamy bouquet of grilled meat, spice, black fruit and iodine. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, underpinned by a firm chassis of tannin and carrying a considerable payload of extract. Deep and layered at the core, with fine-grained tannins and a chewy finish, this will need a bit of time to round out, but I'm sure it's got plenty of upside.

Already polished and drinkable, the 2015 Syrah Thompson Vineyard has a cool climate vibe in its lavender, olive, peppery and floral bouquet. This gives way to a medium to full-bodied, fresh, elegant Syrah that has plenty of sweet fruit, fine tannin and bright acidity.
