The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva is quite a bit more fresh and vibrant than the Merlot in this vintage. Black cherries, plums, spices, herbs and minerals are all woven together in a very pretty mid-weight frame. The wine offers outstanding length and clarity with enough freshness to suggest it will continue to develop positively in bottle. This is a wonderful effort from Kornell. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2018.
These new releases from Kornell are delicious. Broadly speaking, the entry-level wines are more interesting than some of the higher-end bottlings. The estate is clearly producing top quality fruit, the next challenge is to capture that quality in bottle.
