One of the few Vignon wines to see new oak (25%), the 2019 Rasteau is a blend dominated by Grenache, but with smaller amounts of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Laced with scents of garrigue and green peppercorns, it offers mixed berries on the medium to full-bodied palate, and a bit more assertive tannin than seen in Vignon's other wines. That said, it's by no means unapproachable, and while it may be kept another year or so, it should be consumed over the next 5–7 years.

Vignon's plummy, chocolaty 2017 Rasteau is a supple, creamy blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, aged in a 50-50 mix of oak and concrete. Full-bodied and plush and perhaps a bit warm on the lengthy finish, it should be consumed over the next 4-5 years.

Nicely done all around, Xavier Vignon's 2016 Rasteau is full-bodied and slightly warm, but it does deliver complex notes of ground spices, ripe plums and supple tannins. Drink it over the next 5 years.

I loved the 2015 Rasteau, and this blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre offers a stunning nose of ripe black cherries, dried herbs, spice and pepper. Rich, medium to full-bodied and layered, it has impeccable purity and a balanced, lengthy personality that will evolve.

The 2014 Rasteau is a touch mid-weight, yet offers charming notes of dried herbs, earth and black raspberries. It has some tannic grip, but it won’t make old bones, either; so give bottles a year or so, then drink up. The blend is 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah, aged 60% in once-used barrels and the balance in concrete tanks.
