A big step up, with a forward style in its currants, blackberries, roasted herbs and licorice, the 2006 Gigondas Confidentiel is medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and has a fully mature, yet balanced style that will keep it drinking nicely for another 4-6 years. As always, both this cuvée and the Terre des Aines were raised all in concrete tanks and see no wood whatsoever.

Shows slightly mature aromatics of mesquite and spice box notes, with a supple, alluring palate of black tea, mulled spice and crushed plum fruit.
