The 1993 Olivet Lane Pinot Noir displays an evolved, medium ruby color with garnet and amber at the edge. It offers a fragrant, smoked game, spicy, berry, and herb-scented nose, medium body, good rather than excellent/outstanding concentration, and surprisingly high, tart acidity in the finish. The wine will age well for 3-4 years, but it is not as concentrated or layered as most Williams-Selyem Pinots. The Williams-Selyem winery has long been a reference point for complex, sumptuous Pinot Noir. That being said, I thought the 1993s possessed a degree of herbaceousness and higher acidity than previous releases. As an unabashed fan of this winery's Pinot Noir, I must admit to being uninspired by the 1993s.
