My favorite of the lineup, although we’re splitting hairs here, the 2012 Trine is a sensational blend of 37% Cabernet Franc, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot, all of which spent 17 months in 34% new French oak. Giving up lots of dark fruits, chocolate, smoke, earth and hints of charcoal, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, lots of fruit and building, mouth-coating tannin. Like the straight Cabernet, this needs a solid 4-5 years of bottle age and will have two decades of overall longevity.
