Rochioli has become one of California's finest practioners of high class Pinot Noir. In 1995 there are five separate cuvees, of which four are limited production single vineyard offerings. The 1995 Pinot Noir East Block is cut from the same mold as the West Block offering, perhaps more earthy, but opulent and flashy, with gobs of rich fruit.It is hard to imagine many wineries turning out five Pinot Noirs of this quality from one vintage.Readers should recognize that all the single vineyard Pinot Noirs are made in extremely limited quantities, usually under 100 cases.(release date 10/97)Tom Rochioli, one of my 1995 winemakers of the year, continues to turn out a brilliant portfolio of wines from the family's well-placed vineyards in the Russian River Valley.
