Held back for an extra year of bottle age, the 2018 Barolo Liste shows a metallic note of rust or iron that adds a savory or dry flavor profile. Those reddish mineral notes cede to dried cherry and blackcurrant, and the wine also has a hint of balsam or medicinal herb. It ends on a powerful note with a 15% alcohol content. Production is 7,000 bottles.

Pretty ripe berries and bouquets of flowers. Some earth, too. Full-bodied with very fine tannins. Chewy still but ends velvety and polished. Very drinkable now but better in two or three years.

A dense yet eloquent red, with freshly mown hay, eucalyptus and mint aromas that segue to raspberry, kirsch and rose flavors. Supple and fruity, with terrific cut and a long aftertaste based on the red fruit profile. Reveals beautifully integrated tannins.
