The 2001 Chianti Classico, with ample notes of violets and iris along with its red currants, is long and persistent on the palate with filigree tannins that give some additional weight and presence. There are few men in Tuscan wine I admire more than Paolo De Marchi, for me the number one producer in the region for the variety and consistent high quality of his wines. And here it has all been done with sweat and dedication – the capital that was available elsewhere was not available at this estate.
