A release of about 16,000 bottles, the Cantine Antonio Caggiano 2015 Taurasi Vigna Macchia dei Goti is a full-bodied red wine with dark concentration and rich fruit flavors that are lasting and quite savory. At the wine's core, there is ripe, even sweet cherry fruit, but all this is framed by darker spice, leather, tar and spent ember. This expression is bold and determined, both in terms of the power of the warm vintage fruit and the amplifying effect of the oak aging. I'd reserve it for a juicy and grilled T-bone steak.

Fully saturated, opaque purple-ruby. Very raw and very primal aromas and flavors of dark plums, spicy cocoa, blackberry nectar, flint and candied black cherry. Concentrated and dense, and smooth and luscious already. The flinty cherry, cocoa and sweet spices return on the long, vibrant, very rich finish. A baby, but very promising.
