Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Chartron's 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret has an open, generous, fennel-tinged bouquet that complements the green apple and wet limestone aromas. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity—brisk and lively—although there is still some wood to be subsumed on the creamy-textured finish. But it feels long and sophisticated, almost sensual, and it should offer many years of drinking pleasure.
