Cécile Tremblay's 2011 Echézeaux du Dessus Grand Cru is evolving beautifully, wafting from the glass with a pure and vibrant bouquet of rose petal, raw cocoa, red berries and plums. In the two years since I last encountered this wine, it has digested its new oak and begun to become quite aromatically expressive, though it's still very youthful. On the palate, this Echézeaux is full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, its ample chassis of fine tannins cloaked in crisp red fruit, its finish sappy and nicely focused. Cécile really excelled in the 2011 vintage, and I'm happy to have a few bottles of this resting in my cellar.
